A choked toilet, a dripping tap or a leak through the ceiling rarely waits for a convenient time, and the first thing most people want to know is what a plumber will charge. In Singapore, most plumbers price per job rather than per hour, and the same job can cost twice as much from one company as from another.
This guide pulls together the plumbing prices that Singapore companies publish for 2026, for homes and for commercial premises, so you can tell whether a quote is reasonable. It also explains when the law requires a PUB Licensed Plumber and what to check before you pay. All figures are indicative and quoted as each source publishes them. Plumber cost in Singapore: the short answer
For common household jobs, published 2026 prices mostly fall between S$60 and S$200: clearing a choke from about S$60–150, tap work from about S$80–180, and fixing an exposed leak from about S$80–200. Bigger jobs cost more, such as a concealed leak needing hacking at S$300–800 or a water heater installation at roughly S$160–600. Parts, after-hours surcharges and GST can add to these.

Clearing a choke: by hand or by machine
Choke prices vary so much because the method depends on where the blockage is. A blockage close to the toilet, basin or floor trap can often be cleared by hand with a plunger or simple tools in a few minutes. A blockage further down the pipe, or one that keeps coming back, may need a drain machine, water jetting or a camera inspection. Family Plumber’s rate card shows this clearly: the same toilet choke is S$60 by hand and S$120–400 by machine. Ask the plumber which method they expect to use before they start.
After-hours surcharges
Emergencies cost more. AOT publishes its surcharges: plus S$50 for weekday evenings (5pm–10pm), S$80–100 late at night, S$50–80 on Saturday daytime, S$80–150 from Saturday evening and all of Sunday, and S$100–150 on public holidays. If a leak can be safely contained until office hours, waiting can save a lot.
Plumbing for offices, shops and F&B
Commercial plumbing usually costs more than home jobs because of building rules, after-hours work and larger systems. AOT says commercial plumbing rates start higher, budgeting from S$200 for minor repairs. F&B outlets have extra recurring costs, especially grease trap cleaning: Duct & Trap gives a typical Singapore market range of roughly S$180–650 per visit. Kitchen drains that block regularly may also need high-pressure water jetting, which is normally quoted after inspection.
If you are fitting out a new restaurant, plan drainage and grease traps with your contractor early; our guide to F&B renovation contractors covers this. For offices, pantry and toilet plumbing is often handled as part of an office fit-out.

What drives plumbing cost
- Type of job: clearing a simple choke is quick; finding and fixing a concealed leak is not.
- Access: exposed pipes are cheaper to fix than pipes inside walls or under floors, which need hacking and reinstatement. AOT says this adds S$200–600 to most jobs.
- Parts: many quotes are labour only. Taps, heaters, toilet bowls and fittings are extra unless stated.
- Time of day: evenings, weekends and public holidays carry surcharges.
- Regulated work: some work must be done by a PUB Licensed Plumber and reported to PUB, which adds a fee.
- Property type: commercial premises and landed homes generally cost more than HDB flats.
Do you need a PUB Licensed Plumber?
PUB states that all regulated water service and sanitary plumbing works must be carried out by Licensed Plumbers, except for simple plumbing works that can be done by handymen. Work such as new pipe runs or a storage water heater installation falls on the regulated side, so ask for the plumber’s licence number before work starts. You can check it on PUB’s Find a Licensed Plumber register.
What is usually included, and what is not
A plumbing quote normally covers labour and, sometimes, transport and basic materials. Check whether these are included:
- parts and fixtures, such as taps, hoses, valves and toilet bowls;
- the water heater itself, as opposed to installation only;
- hacking, tiling and reinstatement for concealed pipes;
- PUB submission fees for regulated work;
- after-hours surcharges and GST;
- a workmanship warranty, which varies by company.
How to get an accurate plumbing quote
- Send photos or a short video of the problem on WhatsApp before anyone visits.
- Describe when it started and whether it keeps coming back.
- Ask for the all-in price, including transport, parts and GST.
- Ask whether the job is labour only and how parts are charged.
- For bigger jobs, get two or three written quotes.
How to avoid costly plumbing problems
- Watch what goes down the drain. Cooking oil, food scraps, wet wipes and hair are common causes of chokes.
- Fit strainers on kitchen sinks and floor traps, and clean them regularly.
- Act on small leaks. A slow drip or a damp patch on the ceiling can become a concealed-leak job if left alone.
- Know where your water valve is, so you can shut off the supply in an emergency and avoid paying a night-time surcharge for a leak that can wait.
- For F&B outlets, keep to a regular grease trap cleaning schedule, which usually costs less than emergency drain clearing.
Red flags
- A low phone quote that becomes much higher once the plumber is on site, with no explanation.
- Refusal to show a PUB licence for regulated work.
- Pressure to replace whole fittings or pipes when a repair would do.
- No written invoice or warranty.
- Large upfront payment before any work is done.
